Do I need an appointment?
No, appointments are not needed, nor do we accept appointments.
We have 5 tubs and drying areas and a comfortable waiting area. Weekdays and mornings are our least busy times.
How
late can I come to wash my dog?
Last wash starts before 6 pm Tuesday - Saturday. As long as you arrive
before 6 pm, you have time to wash your dog.
What do I need to bring? Can I bring my own shampoo (brush,
comb, etc.)?
We provide everything, but the dog! You are welcome to bring any of your own supplies,
but we do supply an excellent regular shampoo, comb, brush, scrubber, towels and a professional grooming dryer. Oatmeal
or flea shampoo and specialty conditioners are available for an additional cost.
We do require that all dogs enter
and leave on a leash. If you do not have a leash, you may borrow a leash/collar from the cashier.
Do
you charge extra for long-haired or thick coated breeds?
No, but if your dog needs more than 16 oz. of
shampoo because he is thick coated or extremely dirty, we do charge $2.00 extra per bottle. However, the 16 oz. included
in our basic wash should be ample for most dogs.
How often should I wash my dog?
There
is no hard and fast rule, but we recommend bathing your dog monthly. Some dogs may need more, some less. Our rule
of thumb -- if nobody wants to pet your dog, he or she needs a bath!
What forms of payment do you accept?
We
accept cash, checks, all credit cards.
I have a big dog! How will I get him up in your tub?
We
have a ramp for large dogs to go up into the tub. We may also be able to help you lift your dog into the tub if he won't
go up the ramp.
Do you allow pit bulls, Rottweilers, etc?
We allow any well-mannered
dog at The Dog Wash. Dogs that show aggressive behavior may be asked to wear a muzzle (we will provide one if necessary)
or will be asked to leave.
May I bring more than one dog to The Dog Wash?
Yes! We have
a Canine Hitch available in each station to tie up any dogs waiting for their bath. If you have any helpers with you,
you can each have a dog in a tub. However, we can only accomodate one dog in a tub at a time, and each dog must enter
and leave on its own leash (see above).
Do you offer full-service bathing/grooming?
No,
at this time The Dog Wash is strictly self-service. We will assist you as much as we are able in getting your dog in
the tub (we have a ramp for the larger dogs), to show you the best way to get your dog washed and dried, and to provide additional
shampoo and towels as necessary. We do have small safety scissors available to remove matted fur.
Do
I need to clean up when I'm done?
Heck no! We clean up when you're done! Take your
clean, dry puppy and we'll clean and disinfect the tub, towels, brush, comb when you're done.
May
I bring my children?
Absolutely! Kids and dogs go together like cookies and milk! Most kids
like to help out in washing the family dog and we can provide an extra apron and stepstool for them. We also have a
"kiddy area" with toys and coloring books for them!
What about parking?
We
have ample parking on the street in front of our shop, as well as city parking across the street. There is some limited
parking off the alley behind our shop as well -- please knock and we'll let you in the back door.
